From the beginning of the show, who were the best fighters? The rules:
- If they appeared in Season 1
- Only achievements seen in or happened before Season 1, nothing we know after the first season
His defeat of a Knight of the Vale was a great example of his ability and resourcefulness. It is one of the most impressive one v. one fights in the first season. But Bronn falls short on past reputation. All we know about him is what we saw. There is no information on his past accomplishments or achievements. For now, Bronn sits at 7th.
Dany’s right hand, Jorah is a formidable warrior. He fought in the front lines in the siege of Pyke, and most impressively defeated a Dothraki Blood Rider. Not the best fighter in the world, but a very above average knight who can hold his own against fighter from all over the globe.
Lord Eddard Stark
A fierce Northerner, Ned wields a massive sword that can rip his enemies apart. Some of his notable achievements in battle include defeating one of the greatest swordsman to ever live (Ser Arthur Dayne), survived two wars, went head to head with Ser Jamie Lannister in single combat.
Become the First Sword of Bravos is honestly enough to warrant putting him on the list. But watching him take out 4 Lannister men at once with little better than a stick was awesome. Easily one of the best fighter in Game of Thrones.
The Great Khal was never defeated in battle, nor single combat. His death was from disease and magic. He bested on of his blood riders without any weapons, and was the most feared Dothraki in the world. Truly a force to be reckoned with.
Ah the Kingslayer. Serving in the Kings Guard prevented him from earning glory in either of Robert’s two wars. But he has dominated the tourney scene ever since. How does that compare to actual fighting? Well Ned does not think too highly of them, but the rest of the Seven Kingdoms seems to fear Jamie’s prowess with a blade. And during his duel with Ned, he was clearly in more control and was better than Ned even if it was fought to a stalemate.
Ser Barriston Selmy
Easily the best swordsman in Season 1. Jamie looks up to him as a master beyond his ability. Jamie even went so far as to say that while fighting outlaws Ser Barriston Selmy did the best move he had ever seen. That would be enough to be high on this list but he also broke the Mad King out of captivity single handedly before Robert’s Rebellion.
